Comment on the Climate-Smart Agriculture and Forestry Partnership Program
Agricultural soils have the potential to shift the balance in greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon markets, when properly implemented can leverage the private sector to incentivize practices that help to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. The Climate-Smart Agriculture and Forestry Partnership Program’s Climate-Smart Commodity Labeling Initiative is a promising approach to facilitate farmers of the United States’ access to these incentives. In this comment letter, we provide recommendations so this initiative may create the greatest benefit to farm productivity, climate, society.
