Comment letter on Clean Water Act effluent limitations guidelines and standards for the meat and poultry products point source category
This comment letter responds to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding its proposed Clean Water Act Effluent Limitations Guidelines and Standards for the Meat and Poultry Products Point Source Category. We recommended the EPA select its Option 3, the option that provided the most sound and rigorous approach to address the public health and environmental concerns posed by effluent from Meat and Poultry Product (MPP) facilities. We noted that the human health and climate change-related benefits of this option are underestimated. We recommended that EPA issue a final rule on this issue as soon as possible to improve water quality and protect human health and the environment from MPP wastewater.
