Jennifer Hartle, MHS, is a fifth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. Her research focuses on equity as it relates to dietary environmental exposures. For her dissertation, she is examining bisphenol-A (BPA) exposures in the food system and seeing whether people of differing economic and racial backgrounds experience different exposures. To conduct this research, she is comparing BPA concentrations of participants from national dietary datasets. Her doctoral project also includes studying public school nutrition programs and modeling potential BPA exposures from school lunches. Jennifer earned her BA in Environmental Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and her MHS in Environmental Health Engineering at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is also a Certified Industrial Hygienist and works to apply these years of experience to her research. Her doctoral advisor is Dr. Robert Lawrence, professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences.
