August Summers

August Summers, MHS, RD, is a fifth-year doctoral student in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society. He earned a BS in Human Nutrition at Winthrop University in South Carolina. After completing a dietetic internship at the National Institutes of Health and the requirements to become a registered dietitian, August earned a MHS in clinical epidemiology at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. His research interests include the exploration of individual-level and environmental-level factors on dietary behavior. August’s dissertation research is a qualitative study of factors influencing the availability of meatless meals in the school lunch program. His doctoral advisor is Dr. Janice Bowie, associate professor in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society.
