Charles Bakin

Charles Bakin, MS, is a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering. Advised by Dr. Keeve Nachman, he is in the Exposure Sciences and Environmental Epidemiology track. He is interested in quantitative microbial risk assessment of foodborne pathogens and application of computational methods to study the impact of environmental exposures on health. He aims to translate this understanding into impactful public health policies and practices. He holds degrees in Food Science and Technology (MS, Ohio State University), Sustainable Food Systems (European Joint MS, ISARA-Lyon), and Nutrition (BS, University for Development Studies, Ghana). His background includes experience as a Regulatory Officer with Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority and involvement in research projects in the US, Ethiopia, and Kenya.
