Research Program Specialist

Qinfan joined the Center for a Livable Future in 2024 as a Research Program Specialist, where she works closely with the Science Resource Core, contributes to key research and policy efforts, and mobilizes expertise for research, policy, and advocacy projects. She brings with her experience and expertise in exposure science and risk assessment.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Beijing Forestry University, and a Master of Science (ScM) from the Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2023. She studied within the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering, and her thesis involved a market-basket study of neurotoxic chemicals in infant formula.

Before joining the Center, she involved herself with the INnovations to Generate Estimates of children's Soil/dust inTake (INGEST) Study, and after that she managed Dr. Keeve Nachman’s lab in support of INGEST.

While studying for her ScM at the Bloomberg School, Qinfan took classes on food systems and was fascinated to learn how deeply food systems intersect with public health and the environment. In one of her classes, she learned about food waste, and because of it she altered her food purchasing habits.

Qinfan enjoys traveling, taking pictures, and cooking, especially Chinese food. She’s always on the lookout for good Chinese restaurants, and she can recommend a great one in Rockville, Maryland. She hopes to fulfill her mother’s dream of traveling together to the West Coast, especially Yellowstone National Park.
