Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future Announces 2019-2020 CLF-Lerner Fellowship Recipients

The Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future (CLF) has awarded 12 fellowships for the 2019–2020 academic year. The Center for a Livable Future-Lerner Fellowship program was established in 2003 to support Johns Hopkins University doctoral students who are committed to exploring the public health challenges associated with the food system. The fellowship is named to honor Helaine and Sid Lerner and provides up to one year of financial support for tuition, stipend, and research.
“The CLF-Lerner Fellowship provides support for the education, research, and professional development of public health leaders with food system expertise.” said Martin Bloem, MD, director of the CLF and the Robert S. Lawrence Professor in Environmental Science with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Department of Environmental Health and Engineering. “This year’s cohort of fellows is an outstanding group of doctoral students from across the University, dedicated to advancing the field of food systems and improving public health. The CLF-Lerner Fellowship continues to support public health professionals in addressing our most pressing food system issues.”
The Recipients of CLF-Lerner Fellowships are:
- Dania Orta-Aleman, MPH, a third-year PhD student in the Human Nutrition program in the Department of International Health;
- Caitlin Ceryes, RN, MPH, a third-year PhD student in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering;
- Darriel Harris, MA, a fifth-year PhD student in the Department of Health Behavior and Society;
- Amelie Hecht, BA, a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Health Policy and Management;
- Gabriel Innes, VMD, a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering;
- Kayla Iuliano, MHS, a third-year PhD student in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering;
- Anna Kharmats, MA, a sixth-year PhD student in the Social and Behavioral Interventions Program, in the Department of International Health;
- Anastasia Lambrou, MSc, a fourth-year PhD student in the Global Disease Epidemiology and Control Program within the Department of International Health;
- Sara Lupolt, MPH, a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering;
- Quinn Marshall, MPA-DP, a third-year PhD student in the Human Nutrition Program within the Department of International Health;
- Ava Richardson, MPH, a second-year DrPH student in the Environmental Health and Engineering Department;
- Sonia Sarkar, MPH, a fourth-year DrPH student in the Healthcare Leadership and Management track of the Department of Health Policy & Management;
In addition to financial support, the CLF-Lerner Fellowship provides enrichment opportunities such as a journal club, trainings, meetings with leaders in the field, and a network of current and former fellows. Johns Hopkins students from all divisions within the university are eligible to receive support during any stage of their doctoral programs.
