Align policies on food production and consumption for healthy diets

Capitol

There is a disconnect between the food we produce and what people need for a healthy diet. Current agricultural policies and the economics of modern farming strongly favor production of meat, milk and eggs and processed foods, as opposed to foods that align with recommendations for healthy diets. The result of this misalignment is that for many consumers, a diet rich in plant-based whole foods is not feasible. CLF works to identify opportunities to change agricultural policies that undermine incentives and/or the feasibility of producing healthy foods. Using a systems-informed interdisciplinary lens and approach, CLF employs evidence to advocate for aligning food production policies and procurement strategies with the foods needed to support healthy diets.
