This study provides evidence that use of nitarsone in turkey production can contribute to dietary exposures to inorganic arsenic (iAs) and other arsenic species among turkey consumers. These findings support the US FDA’s precautionary decision to withdraw nitarsone’s marketing approval in 2015, and support similar actions by other governments and international agencies to protect public health in all populations.
