Melissa Poulsen

Melissa Poulsen, MPH, is a fifth-year PhD student in the Department of International Health. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Carleton College and a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan. Her research interests center on environmentally sustainable efforts to improve community food security. Specifically, her dissertation research examines community perceptions of urban farming, what influences those perceptions, and the ways in which urban farming projects gain acceptance from local communities. Her faculty advisor is Peter Winch, Director of the Social and Behavioral Interventions Program in the Department of International Health.
