Michelle Wong, is a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Health Policy and Management. She received a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics from Yale University. She has previously worked as a health care consultant at IMS Health’s Pricing and Reimbursement consulting practice and as a research assistant at the Brookings Institution’s Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform. She has also been an avid volunteer at a Washington, DC-based urban farm and gardening education non-profit organization that is dedicated to making healthy, locally grown food both physically and economically accessible to all. Her research will focus on ways to promote healthy eating, and in particular, the role that health care practitioners can play in encouraging individuals to take advantage of initiatives that aim to improve the availability of healthy foods in low-income and minority communities. Her advisor is Dr. Sara Bleich, associate professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management.
