Kathryn Heley
Fellowships Awarded: 2016, 2015
Kathryn Heley, MPH, is a third year doctoral student in the Department of Health Policy and Management with experience in program management, communication research, and intervention development and implementation. Her research uses a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to explore ways that communication and policy tools can impact behavior and stigma around chronic, non-communicable diseases, including those driven by diet and inactivity. She hopes that her research will contribute to the development of effective interventions and prevention initiatives that facilitate change around dietary habits, food systems and norms, and the built and social environments. Prior to beginning her PhD, Katie graduated from Cornell University and received her MPH and a certificate in health communication from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her doctoral advisor is Dr. Colleen Barry, Professor in the Departments of Health Policy and Management and Mental Health.
