Philip McNab

Philip McNab, MPH, MA, is a fifth year PhD student in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society. He received his master’s degrees in Public Health Education and Bio-cultural Medical Anthropology from the University of South Florida. Philip is primarily interested in the implications of direct engagement in the food system. His dissertation research employs participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and media content analysis to explore three dimensions of volunteering at farms in Maryland: the reasons people volunteer, what volunteers’ experiences are, and the consequences of volunteering. Philip’s adviser is Katherine Clegg Smith, PhD.
