Laura Cobb

Laura Cobb, MS, is a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology.  Her primary interest preventing obesity and chronic disease by changing the environment to one where the healthier choice is the easier choice.  Her research is focused on the food environment: how to measure it and its relationship to obesity.  Most recently, Laura worked for the New York City Department of Health as part of a national initiative to reduce sodium in packaged and restaurant foods. Prior to that she worked in HIV prevention, both with the CDC in Vietnam and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Namibia. Laura earned her Master of Science degree in Population and International Health from Harvard in 2007.  Her advisor is Dr. Lawrence Appel, professor in the Department of Epidemiology.
