Kathryn Dalton
Fellowships Awarded: 2017
Kathryn Dalton, VMD, MPH, is a first year PhD student in Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology within the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering. She received her veterinary medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013, and her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2016, with a concentration in infectious disease and food safety. Kathryn then worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering on a pilot project studying the microbial transmission between pediatric oncology patients and therapy dogs. Kathryn’s research interest focuses on using microbial epidemiology and ecology techniques to understand how animal exposure affects human health, through zoonotic disease transmission and microbiome alterations, particularly in occupational cohorts. Kathryn’s co-advisers are Meghan Davis, PhD, and Dr. Gurumurthy Ramachandran, PhD.
