Marie Spiker

Marie Spiker, MSPH, RDN, is a fifth-year PhD student in the Department of International Health. Her research interests include global food security, value chains for nutrient-rich foods and systems science. Her thesis research, conducted with the HERMES Logistics Modeling Team at the Global Obesity Prevention Center, uses computational modeling to identify supply-chain improvements that could decrease postharvest loss and increase the availability of nutrient-dense foods in low-resource settings. Marie received her bachelor’s degrees in public health and medical anthropology from the University of Washington and her Master of Science in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed her clinical dietetic training at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Her adviser is Kristen Hurley, PhD.
