Gabriel Innes

Gabriel Innes, VMD, is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering. He received his Bachelor of Science from the Schreyer’s Honors College at the Pennsylvania State University, College of Agricultural Sciences, and he received his Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. Gabriel has had past experience as a consultant and fellow in the dairy industry in the People’s Republic of China and has also completed internships at the United States Department of Agriculture, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the World Health Organization. Gabriel’s current research focuses on the environmental epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in the United States food system. Gabriel investigates risk factors within meta-data from national surveillance systems of retail meat that may expose consumers to antimicrobial resistant bacteria. Gabriel additionally aims to build bridges between policy-makers and industry stakeholders within the food industry to support best-practice policies that are adoptable by and acceptable to all stakeholders.
